The museum has two standard folding wheelchairs available for guests. Gallery tours for visitors who are deaf or hard of hearing are also available. Label copy for exhibitions is available in large print and Braille format. The Tampa Museum of Art strives to provide an arts environment that is accessible to all audiences. As the completion of the new museum is nearing, the Tampa Museum of Art continues to evaluate exhibition design, program structure and audience communication, and resource needs. The museum works closely with VSA arts of Florida to develop programming that is inclusive and meets community needs. In the past year, the museum has added access programs for both adult and youth audiences that incorporate gallery experiences and outreach components. It has benefited from partnerships with the Mayor’s Alliance for People with Disabilities, the Lighthouse for the Blind, University of South Florida’s Center for Autism and Related Disabilities, Pyramid Inc., MHC, Inc., and MacDonald Training Center. To ensure that the museum continues to meet and exceed its access objectives, Tampa Museum of Art has developed an Access Committee to provide support for programming evaluation and detailed review of physical plant and building access.
