Tour Program

Docent led tours of Museum exhibitions are available for groups of 10 or more. Tours are offered Monday through Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m. Tours must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance and can include a specific gallery or a general tour of all galleries.
 
Admission: $10/adults, $7.50/seniors/military/FL educators, $5/students.
No group rates.
No docent fee.

 

 

Inspire Yoga

Saturdays 9:30-10:45am

Join instructor Laura Tillinghast from Inspire yoga for Saturday morning yoga sessions. The class will be taught in the exhibition space, enabling the creative inspiration of art to infuse the physical and spiritual inspiration of yoga.

Laura is a Yoga Alliance certified 200-hr RYT trained in the vinyasa style by James Kigar and Judy Weaver at Yoga South in Boca Raton, FL. Vinyasa yoga flows together ashtanga postures linking movement with breath, allowing freedom from mental chatter and space for peace and inspiration.

Some yoga experience is recommended though not required. Please come on a light stomach, bring a mat and a towel. No beverages will be allowed in the space.

Pre-registration preferred. Fee includes admission to galleries and is priced per session. Please print and sign the attached waiver and bring with you to sessions.

Antiquities Circle

Inaugural meeting
April 14, 2010

Antiquities Circle, a group devoted to the study and support of the museum's renowned collection of classical antiquities, will meet Wednesday, 4/14 at 7pm in the Lemonopoulos Gallery at the museum. Available to museum members by invitation.

The meeting will include an exclusive tour of the exhibition From Life to Death in the Ancient World by Seth Pevnick, the Richard E. Perry Curator of Greek and Roman Art, followed by discussion and refreshments.

Summer classes for adults will be offered in two sessions. Classes are from 6pm-9pm daily, unless otherwise noted. All classes are subject to change based on enrollment.

Tuesday:
Multimedia: In this class we will explore the use of various 2D mediums from cyanotypes, silk-screens, mono-prints, transfer methods, painting and drawing. $60 members/ $75 non-members.
Sculpture: The students in this class will work with found objects, wire, fabric, plaster, and some clay to explore 3D objects. Classical and contemporary artists will be discussed. $60 members/ $75 non-members.
 
Wednesday:
Painting: This class will cover basic perspective, color theory, paint type, canvas preparation, drafting and execution of your own paintings. Classical and contemporary artists will be discussed. $60 members/ $75 non-members.
Bookbinding-Journaling Workshop: Come in and learn the art of bookmaking. The books we will be making could have many uses from sketchbooks, travel journals, photo albums, or an art piece itself. This is a four week class. $48 members/$60 non-members.
 
Thursday:
Life Drawing: A traditional educational tool for all those who inspire to learn how to draw. This class will be lead by an instructor with demonstrations for those participants interested. Drop-ins always welcome! $60 members/ $75 non-members.
Figure Sculpture: This class will take cues from the life drawing classes and use a model to explore the human figure. $60 members/ $75 non-members.
 
Saturday:
Plein-Air Painting: 11am-2pm: The students in this class will be finding inspiration from life. Students will be encouraged to explore the park and waterfront surrounding the Museum for a scene to paint. All paint mediums will be discussed. $60 members/ $75 non-members.
Drawing from the Masters: 2-4:30pm: In this class the students will be taken upstairs and given the opportunity to draw from the artwork inside the main galleries- no charcoal, please. $60 members/ $75 non-members.
 

Gasparilla International Film Festival

The Global Film Initiative is a U.S.-based, 501(c)3 organization specializing in the acquisition, distribution and support of independent film from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Museum Connections
 
Program offers a three part arts experience for organizations that work with adults with disabilities. The museum provides and introductory presentation, gallery visit, and hands on experience with a visiting artist. The project and art medium is chosen by the organization. Program is free and offered several times annually. Initial funding provided by VSA arts of Florida.
