The Art Spot

Saturdays 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The Art Spot
Every Saturday the Museum offers a drop in art program from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00p.m. Experience your child’s creativity by exploring the galleries together and then create an art project in our classroom.   The art projects are self-guided and the gallery related monthly themes offer a different art activity each week. No registration required. Admission to the activity is free. Participants enter the classroom from the exterior entrance until the museum is open.  Regular admission costs apply to view the galleries.

Partnership with Boys and Girls Club of America

Each month the Tampa Museum of Art partners with a different club in the Hillsborough County area for hands-on art experiences.  Clubs visit the museum and participate in an outreach visit to their site.  Students explore different mediums and processes while learning about art, artists and the connections to their daily lives. For more information on this program, please contact Dawn Johnson at Dawn.Johnson@tampamuseum.org or 813.421.8372. Funding for this program is generously provided by the Veredus Corporation.

Art Space

Art Space provides and opportunity for community organizations to bring at risk populations to a safe environment that connects them with the visual arts. Groups work with a museum staff member/educator to experience special exhibitions and permanent collection galleries and participate in a hands-on experience in the classroom. Participating organizations have included Metropolitan Ministries, The Children's Home and The Spring. In 2010 we will be working with The Spring and The Child Abuse Council. Groups meet Thursdays twice a month including an offsite and onsite visit. This program is not open to the public but annually we meet with organizations and program sessions based on their curriculum. Interested organizations should contact Dawn Johnson.
